A Tour of WhereScape’s Super Cool Auckland Office
WhereScape, a technology company that provides data warehouse automation software, wanted a new office space that reflected their fun vibrant nature yet was also suitable to entertain their corporate clients.
“WhereScape looked to Stack to design and create a space that reflected the fun nature of their workplace – while still being professional enough to welcome their corporate clients. The industrial nature of the base build was the starting point for the design. Existing elements and finishes such as concrete, steel & exposed services were retained whilst timber was added for warmth and a “down to earth” feel reflecting the personality of the business. In their previous office space, WhereScape staff were split between floors and buildings, giving the company a disjointed team environment. Additionally there were two distinct sides to the business – the data-focused engineers who require a quieter environment, and the energetic marketing team who required a more collaborative setting. The main project challenge was to allow the different groups to work in their own way but to give them places to interact and socialise creating a ‘one company’ feel. Now WhereScape is a semi-industrial space set over two levels. Stack utilised the space well by installing an upper level mezzanine, producing double height spaces to create a sense of space and openness. A main central staircase links the two levels and a northern double height café space opens to the outdoors. Additionally the project firmly acknowledged the organisation’s recent rebranding exercise – embracing their strong graphic aesthetic throughout with the feature elements of the overall fitout”, said Stack Interiors who designed the space
