Inside Rank Group’s New Maidenhead Office

Rank Group, a British entertainment and gaming company offering a range of casino table games, recently relocated into a new office in Maidenhead, England, which was designed by London-based workplace design firm Area.

“Directors at Rank Group were very clear in their vision for a new working environment. They wanted to reflect and encourage cultural change in the organisation by creating a less formal workplace to encourage collaboration, co-working and sharing of both expertise and enthusiasm. Realising that this dramatic change could be uncomfortable for staff, the company reached out to Area for help in engaging the workforce and encouraging participation in the planning. As part of the process, a design steering group including both senior executives and staff from across the company was created to share ideas and contribute to the planning process. The result is a workspace with a variety of work settings: while employees work mainly in team groups, there is ample space for informal meetings and breakout sessions. A large breakout area and supporting open spaces are also used intelligently to encourage fluid movement around the workspace and create spaces for people to congregate.
