A Tour of Hutch’s Cool New Los Angeles Headquarters
Hutch, a technology startup that develops a web platform and mobile app allowing people to virtually redesign their living space, recently moved into a new headquarters in Culver City, Los Angeles.
“We moved in the office space last year (March 2017) and knew we wanted a large open space with a ton of natural light. After seeing numerous places all over Los Angeles, we finally came across this space but it was under construction. We knew right away the potential it had and signed the lease within the week. At the time, it didn’t make sense to put any budget towards our office design; however, after closing our latest round of funding last summer and waiting until we could decorate it using our technology, we just recently completed the design and, wow, what a difference it made to all 20 of us. We spend so much time at the office, and it truly becomes a home away from home. We thought it would be a great homage to our city to decorate each room inspired by a specific part of LA (Culver, Echo Park, Venice and DTLA). Though each space was inspired with those areas in mind, they all work together in a cohesive way. All of the common spaces and conference rooms were designed using Hutch. It was fun to see how all the pieces would work together, and how we could filter down the price brackets to find things that would fit within our budget. To decorate the conference rooms, we used our dining room template. Since those rooms are not too big, we knew we could repurpose standard size dining tables and chairs to create comfortable meeting spaces. We had Carly Kuhn (Founder of The Cartorialist) tag the outside of our office, which added an element to the space that the team loves. We also had another local artist, Chloe White, create a mural of our favorite “filters” in the hall by our bathrooms. We love supporting local artists, and these touches really make a difference in personalizing the space. Favorite Items? The hutch in our kitchen was of course a must-have when decorating our space! I also love the wallpaper in our bathrooms – it’s the perfect place to be bold and go out of the box with the design. You can be extra in small bathroom spaces and we definitely went for it,” says Hutch
