A Look Inside Transcard’s New London Office

Digital payments company Transcard recently hired workplace design firm Peldon Rose to design their new office in London, England.

“Transcard’s success is down to the client relationships it has spent years nurturing. It was crucial that the company could bring clients into the new space and make an impression that would live up to that of its US HQ in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which features a sleek aesthetic and unmatched social elements.

With big shoes to fill, Peldon Rose centred the interior office design around an open plan lounge and touchdown space reminiscent of luxury hospitality venues. Greeted with soft furniture and high-quality natural finishes, visitors would be forgiven for thinking they’d taken a wrong turn and ended up in one of London’s high-end whisky bars. The deep blue base and sleek orange accents of Transcard’s brand colours were used to set a sophisticated tone throughout, and partnered with illuminated Transcard logos, complement the dark colours. Dimmable lights further add to this design approach and create an effortless transition from work to play. Subtle banquet seating on one wall ensures no one is left standing, without encroaching on the floor space which is finished in understated herringbone vinyl tiling.

The large kitchen island is a cornerstone of the design and is equipped for daily lunch breaks or a catered reception with clients. It also offers a natural gathering point for a quick cup of coffee at any time of day. The white marble finish and drinks cabinet hanging above complete the kitchen area, taking the design to the next level. It embodies an environment that is purpose-built to cultivate company culture and provides the perfect backdrop to its heritage as a firm set up by friends who grew up together. 15 years later this spirit lives on.

With an established team successfully working remotely, Transcard’s new workspace needed to accommodate a hybrid approach. When designing the workstations, Peldon Rose asked: ‘what can’t people do remotely?’ The answer was collaborate. The interior design team specified a large table adjacent to the kitchen, providing an area for teams to have conversations that simply work better face-to-face, as well as an area for the sales team to plug-in-and-play between meetings. Transcard is driving innovation in payment technology, making it more intelligent and infinitely flexible, so it’s no surprise that the firm opted to prioritise an informal and forward-thinking way of working.

Either side of a number of spacious hot desks, sit two executive offices of truly transatlantic proportions, one key element of Transcard’s US office that couldn’t be left in Tennessee. Finished to the highest quality in natural materials – including joinery that curves round to the desks – creating a home from home for visiting executives demonstrate to UK and EMEA-based clients that they are getting the best Transcard has to offer.”
