A Tour of Nestlé’s New Barcelona Office
A team of designers from interior design firm LoCa Studio designed a new office for Nestlé in Barcelona, Spain.
“The post-Covid period has brought forth new challenges for office design. The modern workplace is now defined by a few key elements, namely the home office, physical and mental health, greenery, and outer space. With people at the heart of all areas, including work, their well-being is now paramount to productivity.
The great challenge for workspaces is to attract those who prefer the metaverse or domestic settings as safe workspaces. Nestlé and LoCa aim to make the Smart Campus, not only a conventional workplace but a place for both personal and professional growth. A modern and efficient office layout revolves around bright white light cores. Private work areas are designed around activity cores that can accommodate higher sound levels, while color is strategically used to prioritize and organize various spaces. Color becomes a powerful tool that provides serenity or dynamism, movement, or peace.
Orange represents energy and optimism, defining the experimental workshop and coworking offices as productive spaces free from distractions. The green areas are designated for collaboration and idea elaboration, featuring a think tank and a multiconference room. Blue, known for its calming effect, is the primary color of the social coworking area, providing a flexible and relaxed space for teamwork around a large perimeter table, sofas, or high tables. LoCa has created inviting spaces designed for socializing, conversations, play, and coffee enjoyment. These areas reflect Nestlé’s commitment to promoting sustainability and overall well-being.”
