A Look Inside Richardson Wealth’s New Toronto Office
Financial services firm Richardson Wealth hired interior design firm Figure3 to design their new office in Toronto, Canada.
“Undeniably bright and open, the new office design maximizes natural light and surprises with its thoughtful details such as graphic applications in corridors that echo the geometries of the Canadian prairies, a telescopic wall in the conference area that expands for large events, and an interplay of light and space that fosters a sense of openness and connection.
Transitioning to shared workstations and a “right to light” approach, which prioritized natural light for all employees, required careful coordination with multiple stakeholders to align with the project’s goals.
Inspired by Richardson Wealth’s connection to the Canadian Prairies, the design uses simple geometries, textures, and materials that reflect the landscape’s beauty. The office embodies a refined elegance, with clean lines and meticulous details. The choice of materials, free from animal products, honors the CEO’s ethical commitments to a cruelty-free environment. Oversized historical imagery and custom graphics animate the long corridors, creating distinct transitions throughout the space. The design takes full advantage of natural light and scenic views, offering a range of workspaces from desks to lounges, and a state-of-the-art conference area that serves as the focal point for client interactions. The use of bright, simple materials, accented with pops of color, cultivates a dynamic environment that is both professional and welcoming.
Supporting a variety of work styles and fosters collaboration among all team members, from advisors to corporate staff, while providing clients with an environment that feels both professional and inviting. The carefully curated art collection, selected by Doner Turrin Inc., weaves a narrative that connects visitors to Richardson Wealth’s Canadian heritage.Creative solutions were key to navigating the project’s challenges. A strong on-site presence during construction and early engagement with an acoustic consultant ensured that design choices were aligned with both aesthetic and functional needs. Strategic elements such as portals framing exterior views, angular lighting coves, and refined air transfer details contribute to a space that is both visually striking and practical.
Ultimately, the Richardson Wealth Toronto office is a testament to the company’s commitment to creating a workplace that is functional, inspiring, and in harmony with its core values. It presents a thoughtful approach to design, mindful of both people and the planet, and offers a fresh perspective on what an office can be in a post-pandemic world.”
