A Look Inside Klook’s New Singapore Office

Travel booking platform Klook hired architecture and interior design firm ID21 to design their new office in Singapore.

One of the most exciting aspects of this project was designing Klookitiam, a multifunctional pantry that celebrates community and collaboration. Creatively named after Singapore’s iconic heartland coffeeshop—the Kopitiam—this space is designed to facilitate gatherings among employees and cater for townhall meetings. Klookitiam features a variety of seating options—including tiered seating, long communal tables, bar stools, and café chairs—catering to different work styles and preferences. This flexibility encourages casual interactions as well as formal meetings, embodying Klook’s commitment to fostering teamwork and camaraderie among its diverse workforce. Adjacent to Klookitiam is an 18-person conference room that can be easily combined with the social hub for larger get-togethers. This seamless integration exemplifies our focus on creating adaptable spaces that meet the evolving needs of modern workplaces.

Balancing Workspaces

While the front-of-house areas are vibrant and energetic, we designed the back-of-house spaces with a warmer palette of beige, yellow, and orange. This contrast provides a calming environment for focused work while still maintaining ties to Klook’s brand identity.

Curved seating arrangements, soft curtains, and strategically placed greenery add serenity and comfort to these areas, while high-pile carpets characterised by natural colours and textures mimic the experience of walking in a forest. Acoustic panels overhead help absorb sound and define the collaboration space, ensuring that employees can concentrate in peace. For those looking for privacy in this open-plan office, we have thoughtfully integrated work booths and phone pods in the quieter fringe areas of the floorplan. Elsewhere, weather-resistant lounge furniture can be found at the outdoor terrace next to the pantry, inviting one to take a moment to step outside.

This balance between “We” and “Me” spaces demonstrates our understanding of contemporary workplace dynamics, and the importance of ensuring flexibility and versatility in today’s office environment. By providing varied environments for both teamwork and solitude, we help ensure that Klook employees can thrive in their roles while feeling connected to their colleagues.
